Adjustments and Responses

What another exciting day in Eswatini! After an adventurous morning of no heat in the guesthouse, small groups ventured out to get firewood, shop for food, and make final preparations for Youth Leaders Retreat.

And finally, Youth Leaders Retreat has started! It was a beautiful evening full of joyful reunions, a few tears, a warm meal, and lots of laughter. We played some quite ridiculous games and heard a great word from Matt.

He asked us tonight: How do you respond when nothing make sense?

That’s a little how many of us feel tonight. The  heat being out in 40 degree weather makes little sense. Missed communication, or lack of communication on plans makes little sense. Crazy schedules make little sense.

How do you respond?

In reality? This is a tough ask. In reality? The fruit can be bitterness, frustration, doubt, fear, anxiety, and short tempers, especially when stress runs high.

As believers, we are called to respond with those fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control. To these we commit our days.

Eswatini is pushing us to our very limits – physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally. We are spent. And yet, God is still faithful. He is showing up in our relationships. He is showing up in our sweet reunions. He is showing up in grocery stores and firewood, and friends.

Pray for our response. Pray for us in our fruits of the spirit.  We’re so thankful for your prayers.
