Anticipation and Expectation

It’s February, and once again one of our Swaziland Partnership teams is off to show Jesus to our friends in the Kingdom.

What a sweet, sacred familiar for some of us. What a fresh freefall into the unknown for our newcomer friends. All good, all joy, laced with love, wrapped in welcome.

This team is truly a mixed bag – a couple of new folks bouncing with anticipation and how God might do through us, with us, and around us in Eswatini. Also some folks who’ve been doing this so long, they don’t anticipate it – the expect God to move. And isn’t that a push pull we live in all the time? The need for anticipation and also the belief in expectation?

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

And this is what expectation is – a settled confidence that God is going to do it. But faith? It’s anticipation in something we cannot see. It’s walking in the not knowing all the answers all the time WHILE ALSO believing God has got it. Anticipation and expectation.

We ask for your prayers as we drive to Eswatini. We believe that you remember us.

God – let us sit in anticipation and expectation of all the ways you will move in us on this trip. Help us to savor each moment, to enjoy the sweetness of the your Kingdom. Be with us, show us the way. We walk with you in love. Amen.
