An Everyday Holy

How do we find the sacred in the everyday?

A early cup of coffee.
A grocery store trip, picking out cookies.
A long tar road.
So many questions for our Swazi friends.
An expectant group of friends at Lesibovu, waiting hungrily to hear the word of God.
Stickers.
Bucket hats.
Crumbs in the back of a van.
A helping hand.
The “ps, ps, ps,” of whispered Siswati conversation.
An unexpected prayer.
A soft smile.
Cheap firewood.
A locked gate.
More questions.
Rest.
Deep conversation.
A dinner catching up.
Milkshakes.
More questions.
A late cup of coffee.

Everything is so different in Eswatini, but in some ways everything is absolutely the same. When we pursue the cross, we pursue the everyday holiness of the Jesus way. Where we see him in the great and small. In the most precious of moments, but also in the mundane. To follow Jesus is to find holiness in the humdrum of our lives.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This is where we saw Him today. Where are you looking?
